Hey, all--

Since there are new people arriving here at Jarchives every day, I thought that maybe I should post and pin this info for anyone who is interested.

Blood:Water Mission needs volunteers to staff information tables at concerts and other events on an ongoing basis.  In most cases, volunteers distribute materials, answer questions, and collect donations.

If you are interested in being added to our volunteer database and notified of needs in your area, please e-mail me at volunteers@bloodwatermission.com with the following info:

Your name

Your e-mail address

Your phone #

Your zip code/postal code

Thanks!  Feel free to contact me at the above e-mail with questions, as well.

Peace and blessings,

Lynn

so we are willing to volunteer to help, I have thought of some plans myself, but any ideas can be taken to the community.

Can I apply too? This means SO MUCH to me if I can join you. I'm praying now, but I'm studying nursing plus, teaching English in China. I gotta get the diploma, meanwhile earning pity salary to support myself. I love what I am doing because I love helping people. I REALLY want to go help the ones that in need, seriously!

I think that would be easier than....I've had all the information for over a year in a folder to stand up in front of my church and tell them about it (I even have a bunch of the bracelets).  I'm such a chicken...I wish I wasn't!!  '

Has anyone else given a BloodWater presentation at their church?

I would like the folder to stand up in front of my church, I'm not chicken at all. How does one go about getting it?

LOL.  I should have worded that differently.  I have a lot of information about The 1000 Wells Project (Checklist) that I downloaded from their site that I placed in a folder.  There are checklist, posters, templates that I printed out to put on cans/jars/cups what ever to give to people to put their coffee/soda money in for the two week challenge!

GO HERE:  http://www.1000wells.com/  and you can download the same information.

And about getting up in front of my church.  I was hurt when my pastor said "NO" to me.  He said he didn't want me to deter the congregation from giving to the "local" church.  I couldn't believe it!!!  So, even though I have the guts to get up in front of them, I can't.

Thanks for the information Sara,

I appreiciate it.

What denomination or church do you attend?

My church is Mennonite and we take part in disaster relief in many countries so a request like that is not out of line where I attend. But, I can relate to how you feel. One Christmas I wanted my husband's family to give to blood water mission since they wanted to do a charity drive instead of a gift exchange with eachother. But, they only wanted to help the food bank at a branch of their church. So that's what we did. It's hard for folks to "see" the need in another country when they can physically see with their own eyes the utter need in their own neighborhood. I think things like this (where to give and when) is only by the divine grace of God. He is the one who put it on their hearts and will one day open the door to that need as well. Maybe yiu should try going to a different church just to make the presentation.

I'll let you know how it turns out at my church.

Blessings,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Nice to meet you!  I attend a non-denominational Bible Church (http://www.newhopebible.com)  It's a young new church.

My pastor didn't understand that I wasn't asking the members to not give their regular tythe.  I would be asking them to give up their coffee / soda / extra drinks for just 2 weeks - and put that money in a cup for Africa.  BWM also has some bracelets for your group to wear for the two weeks as a reminder - they will give them to you if you ask. I got a bunch at the BWM table at Soulfest in Gunstock, NH a couple years ago.

I guess you gotta stress that you are asking people to go above & beyond their regular local tythe.

Good luck!

Sara

I loved volunteering last week, I feel a little shy, since I have to talk a lot to Americans in English, but I could still do it again ^^

Loved it.
