Like most of us here, I'm constantly on the lookout for new music. I thought a thread like this might be a good way of sharing any new discoveries we make. If you feel like contributing, please post links to audio or videos samples, and make mention of how people can legitimately purchase anything you post.

Can I suggest as well that we don't just dump links in here - some brief comment is always appreciated, I think. And 'new' needn't mean recently released - any discovery that's new to you and you want to share. If others already know of them, they might want to voice a recommendation as well.

I'll get things started...

I suspect my tastes are a little leftfield compared to some of you, but I've come across a whole swag of excellent music lately that I felt like sharing.

Message to Bears - Departures
Strange band name, but this album is a collection of melancholic acoustic guitar-lead instrumentals I find notable for the level of restraint composer Jerome Alexander displays.

Peter Broderick - Float
Peter Broderick is amongst the most notable names emerging out of the modern classical/experimental scene. Float is officially his debut album, and its a gorgeous collection of piano and strings - all played by Broderick himself (apart from a solo viola on a few tracks). The album is characterised by strong, sentimental melodies and some great textual work.

The lead vocalist kinda sounds like a younger Shawn McDonald.

I quite liked some pieces off the NYC Sessions album. Not overly sentimental worship-style music.
