Great show at The Woodlands last week.  I noticed some folks in the crowd videoing the show, mostly on phones but some were on camcorders-what's the band's stance on that?  Is that allowed or do you guys encourage that?

Something similar was once discussed here in the oooold boards, here is what Dan answered about it:

Live recording and trading
"Well, I think it is okay to tape shows and trade them...'trade" being the operative word. I hope people are not selling the bootlegs. As it is we are one of those bands that people love to download, this makes it really difficult for us to build any credibility in the music business because our records sell less and less. I hope the people that like our music would support the band and buy our music, so if people are doing that, I do not mind a download or two, or a few bootleg copies of shows."

I asked Dan about this a while back. They're ok with fans taping and sharing shows, but if they catch wind of anyone selling bootlegs, they will likely "put their foot down" about it.

Having taped one or two show myself I can say that they are fine with it as long as it is for trading/sharing and not for profit.

Greg would know...hee hee.

I've been to a few shows where they had posted that video recordings weren't allowed.  Jars knew we were taping them and didn't care...
