Alright, I know Flood is one of your older songs, but it is still one of my favorites. Only thing is, there are two places where the lyrics are somewhat indistinct, and none of the places I have looked ever list them right - as in, how it sounds in the song. And yes, I have searched this section of the forums to see if my question had already been asked or not, and didn't find anything.

The first is "Lift me up so high that I cannot fall.." and then most sites list the next line as "Lift me up." It's clear that's not what you were singing though, it sounds either like "Lift me oh Lord" or "Lift me oh woah". So that is one spot that confuses me, and I'd like clarification if possible.

The other is the lines listed as: "Cast down all the waves of sin / And guilt that overthrow me". From the song itself it's clear that it should be "Casting down", but then it gets a bit fuzzy for me. Both "Our waves of sin" and "Our risen sin" seem to fit there, and I can't discern which. As for the second line, all I can make of it is "And guilt that's overflowing".

My question is, would you be willing and able to clarify those sections of the song? Please and thank you? It would help a lot to clear up frustration from myself trying to guess what is being said, as well as give a clearer picture of the song as a whole, and its meaning.

I am not sure about the lyrics having been printed with some mistakes, huh?

They seem to be, so I was wondering what the lyrics actually are.

Having heard many versions of the song, and having listened to it live on a number of occasions, I'm inclined to believe that you're right on your first note. It is something along the lines of "Whoa Oh" or "Oh Whoa" (although, saying those out loud, I'd say it's the first).

On the second one though, I'm almost positive it's "casting down all waves of sin and guilt that over throw me". If you listen to the iTunes Originals version of Flood (or the Furthermore version) it seems to me that this line is unmistakable.

wait, you went to Norway?

i think its just "Lift me up" but they sung it like "lift me u-up"... so there's some kind of "w" or "oah" sound in the "up". Say, "lift me u-oah-ppp"... hahaha 4!

sometimes people sing in our church here, that part of I Could Sing Of Your Love, "i will always sing of when your love came down" as "i will sing of when your love came do-yyyyy-own" and it confuses people.

i bet we'll be having problems with Dan's pronunciations in the next album. Again.
