Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that our little labor of love is finally ready for the general public! Check it out at jarchives.com. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the website, let us know here.

Right now, I'd like to know if we're missing anything from the songs page. I want to limit the list to songs that we know have studio recordings - whether we've heard them or not. After it's complete, we can start talking about live covers and other performances. Eventually I'd like to have information listed for each song, including where you can buy / download it.

Something I'd like to create, with your help, is a timeline. We've got the old 'history' bio up right now, but I want to create something that serves the fan better than wikipedia. I think a comprehensive and interactive timeline would be awesome. We'll include significant performances, release dates, and other milestones. More on this soon...it will be a process.

Thanks for being the best fan community on the net. At this point, I feel a personal connection to the people here even though I'll never meet most of you. I've been around since I joined the old 'blue boards' back in 1999, which means I've been interacting with some of you longer than I have with most of my personal friends! Hopefully people who join this community TODAY will be able to say the same thing 14 years from now [smile]

And before anyone else brings it up...yes, the splash page is atrocious. We'll make it pretty soon.

I love it. It's going to be the greatest Jars directory on the web.
There's an idea for the "timeline" and a web tool called The Way Back Machine will help us. Simply put http://www.jarsofclay.com in the address bar on the website http://web.archive.com and watch the olden days unravel before your eyes. I personally enjoyed their web pages from 1996 and 1999...And I visited the archive of Jarchives.com too! And I guess the old performances uploaded to YouTube will help as well.
Tell me if that helps, Mike. [smile]

How can you forget the epic "Smells Like Rudolph"? [tongue]

Didn't forget it - to the best of my knowledge, a studio recording of it doesn't exist.

I suppose I didn't list the coca cola jingle, though. Speaking of, does anyone have those recordings anymore? I know there were two versions floating around the web...one recorded from the radio, and a longer studio quality recording. I misplaced mine.

Wow Mike, you've really outdone yourself here.  The site looks great!  Clean, easy to get around.  Thanks for all the hard work you and all the other contributors have done.  I look forward to visiting often and contributing when I can.

I will send you the coca cola file I have. Don't remember which version it is, I think it's pretty decent quality, so it must be the studio version.

Thanks for linking to the discography that David and I compiled. Much appreciated!

SWEET SITE, MIKE! You've done a fantastic job. Hats off to you, sir.

I just wanted to put that in before saying that I've had several things going on that have detracted me from posting and interacting on here and that will probably continue for a couple of months. But I'll be back! Loving the site!!!

I agree that this will be a huge resource on the web. I expect if we're all contributing, the reputation of the site will gain some traction again.

Has anyone (Libby?) shown the new site to Jars or explained that it's getting a facelift and update? I think it would get a lot of traction if Jars posted about it.

Hi Derek and all!

Yep, we let the band know first before the site went live! I've heard back from Charlie and Matt, and they really like it. We're hoping Jars will start spreading the news about it soon.

I want to thank Mike for all the many hours and time he has devoted to this. This was his brain child from the get go. I can take no credit. We're hoping there will be new ways others can help out and welcome ideas.

Please tell all your Jars' friends that Jarchives is back!

Looks great Mike! Thanks for all of your time and hard work! Thankful there's still a link for the old Jarchives. I love reading the old Earthen Vessels from Andy. I still haven't finished reading them all.

Looking forward to what the new site brings to both old and new fans! [biggrin]

Thanks everyone! Christa's comment reminds me - I'm well aware of the linking issues with the old jarchives website. It will be a long "find and replace" process, so it will take a while before it's fully functional again. Bear with us...

Could you make the banner on the messageboard link to the main site?

Updated the forum's look a little - now navigation back and forth with the site should work fairly seamlessly.

I also updated the splash page so it automatically redirects to the main site. More to come...

Anyone notice anything missing from the songs page? So far, I've only noticed that we need to add 1400 Feet to the list.
